Formation and Launch - 2024

Following conversations among interested locals, many of whom had been studying and recording details of The Burning for years, a public meeting was called in Dromcollogher.
Relatives of victims and survivors attended as did members of the community, interested in ensuring that the centenary of The Burning was suitably commemorated.
After the first meeting in May 2024 and some follow up meetings, Dromcollogher26 was formally launched on September 2024.

Information Evening and Calendar Launch - November 2024

Information Evening and Calendar Launch - Dromcollogher26 produced a Dromcollogher Memories Calendar with photos spanning 100 years of history in the locality. The calendar was launched on Saturday, November 16 at an Information Day and Public Consultation event that took place in the Town Hall. That event was used to open discussion on The Burning and its aftermath as well as to consider the upcoming commemoration. There was an interesting exhibition of documents and photographs on plinths and tables in the hall for visitors to peruse. Many people brought along their own mementos as well as their own family stories, all of which will feed into the group’s research body of work.
